Jewell shocked by Derby's dismal display

PAUL Jewell was shocked by Derby County’s dismal display in this afternoon’s 2-0 defeat by Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
A week ago, the Rams recorded their biggest win of the season against Sheffield Wednesday and produced some of their best football under Jewell.
But they were poor against Ipswich and the Rams boss was almost lost for words.
“Everything that was good about us last week, wasn’t today,” said Jewell.
"It was one of our worst displays this season. It was the type of performance we thought we had seen the back of.
"It was as poor as we have played for a long time.
“We were milky to say the least.”
Derby were second-best to Ipswich for much of the game and poor defending presented the home side with both goals.
Claude Davis was at fault for the first on 27 minutes when he dithered and allowed Pablo Counago to pounce and beat Roy Carroll.
Davis limped off a few minutes later and Darren Powell came on for his debut but his slip presented the ball to Jonathan Walters on 63 minutes and he scored from close range to make two.
Substitute Przemyslaw Kazmierczak came closest for Derby but his header from Nacer Barazite’s cross was kept out by Richard Wright.
