Jewell likes look of Irish after O'shea impresses
Friday 21 November 2008
Paul Jewell is hoping Derby County can land Irish winger James O’Shea.
Derby are keen to complete a deal for the 20-year-old Galway United player, who has caught the eye in training this week.
“Hopefully, we can come to some arrangement with Galway and him. He has impressed us,” said the Rams manager.
"He has not done himself any harm at all. He is a good player, has shown a good attitude and played very well in our behind-closed-doors game against Notts County.
“I will be pleased if we can get him.”
O’Shea, who will return to Ireland after training today, scored twice in the 5-2 victory over Notts at Moor Farm.
A fee for the player has been agreed with Galway but a deal can only be completed when the transfer window reopens in January.
O’Shea helped Galway to avoid relegation in the eircom League this season and was shortlisted for the PFAI Young Player of the Year award.
Galway are managed by former Rams defender Jeff Kenna who believes O’Shea has a future in the English game.
